They created this site to share with their friends and
see what would happen. They wanted a place to journal
and share their stories, favorite things and fashion
tips. Whether it would just be for fun, or used as a
resource or support system, they wanted to create something
that could become bigger than themselves. The concept
developed and became ChicksSpeak as you see it today.

Christina
started her college career with a big fat
rejection letter from the university that is now her
alma mater. She had her heart set on attending Washington
and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, but she was
rejected when she first applied. Refusing to take "no"
for an answer, she got focused, spent a year at a local
university to make herself "undeniable" and
reapplied. When she returned for her second interview,
the Dean of Admissions asked her what she would do if
she were to be rejected for a second time. With a heart-felt
smile, Christina said that either way she'd be back
-- as a student or as an applicant for the third time.
Several weeks later, her acceptance letter came in the
mail. Christina joined a sorority, helped start up a
student-run organization, learned to speak Mandarin,
made amazing friends, had the best four years of her
life so far. The student body selected her as one of
the "Most Inspirational Women on Campus."
She graduated with a BS in Business Administration.

Jessica
attended private high school, nannying on
weekends to pay her tuition. While she attended a private
college, she worked in the Mayor's Office, a hospital
and the police department. Her assignments spanned traffic
details, vice, auto theft, pawn shop, dispatch and domestic
violence. While the work was interesting and sometimes
difficult, she decided it was not for her, so when she
was recruited to work for a law firm, she quickly accepted.
With no formal legal education, she worked her way up
the ladder from a secretary to a legal assistant and
then practice manager. Today she runs the law firm,
handling everything from budgeting and finance to the
delivery of legal services. She holds a black belt in
the martial arts and competes in ballroom dancing.
